Hmm... What can I say. All the good people screwed up.
Those who should have won did not
Those who should not have won did
Whoooo... How poetic.
Ok. I guess that was lame. I'll get right to the point.
We were short-handed to begin with. We had no reserve. We had no seniors. Our opponents were one or two years more experienced than us. We had a replacement who had to learn the routine ONE WEEK before the competition. We were real screwed. But that didn't stop us from believing we would get top four. You know why? We had our trump card. Three of us learned chuai tui. Only some schools do it. We also had first individual and second individual from last year's C division in our team.
Well, I suppose it's amazing we didn't get last place now that I come to think about it. I mean, two of us only learnt tramp for two years and the other three (including me) only learnt it for a year. Our opponents learnt it for at least three years and some already did gym since they were 7 years old! We had NO chance...
To make it worse, our best player screwed up her routine. It wasn't her fault. No one blamed her for it. As fate had it, the RI boys HAD to cheer at the most critical moment. She was doing chuai tui. Thus, she got startled, hesitated and so couldn't connect. sigh...
Here's the score: I got 8.3, Aly got 7.85, Meryl got 7.95, Wei Yee got 7.65 and Yen Hua got 3.65. (she was the one who had to learn the routine one week before) We missed getting fourth place by 0.4 marks. Really... we were second! That is, from the last...
Then we started wondering. We weren't really that bad. There was a certain school (I'm not sayin the name) which was much crappier than ours. Only one of them could do chuai tui and we had THREE. So how come that school beat us? Then... we started workin it out.
The judges were biased. We had gotten first place last year. People weren't too happy about it. We can tell. We aren't sore losers. In the first place, the judges were KNOWN for being biased. Gymnastics is a sport in which biaseness can be administrated. It's not like badminton or basketball where you just count the scores and penalties and whatnots. In Gymnastics, if you like the way the person presents his/her routine, you give the person a higher score. Meaning, if you LIKE the person, you give the person a higher score.
But I'm not gonna go on about this. It's getting boring. I supposed any readers would have moved on to a more exciting blog by now. But who cares... I don't... I think...
Anyway, here's my vow.
I SWEAR THAT NEXT YEAR WE WILL GET TEAM FIRST AND FIRST, SECOND, AND TIED THIRD INDIVIDUAL AWARDS!!! WE'LL MAKE SURE NO SCHOOL IN OUR DIVISION WILL GET ANY INDIVIDUAL AWARDS!!! NO SIR THEY WONT.
WE'LL OWN THEM.
