haha. This is what we can see from outside the lab window. Left is hwa chong, right is nanyang high school.

This is the uh... growing of bacteria? You can't really see but there are dots that are white and blue. To summarize, the white means successful and the blue vice versa. Something to do with beta-galactosidase and X-gal. Too hard to explain here.

haha. This is through the fluorescence microscope. So I put my camera lense all the way up to one of the eye holes. so cool. And it still can zoom in! haha. but it's really difficult cuz I have to keep my hands really steady or I won't be able to see anything. oh. Thos are the bacteria cells who've got the DNA we want planted in their plasmics. The big rods are some foreign fibre. We don't know how they even got there.

haha. You can't see much here. But in the uh.. a little below the middle and a little towards the right, you can see something glowing green no? It's the gene I'd got. Thing is, mine didn't work. so they cheated and used another. It's a bit worn out by now, so you can't really see much. That's cuz the florescence light actually kills the E. coli. That's the bacteria I'm using now.

aha. More bacteria. They're not actually mobile. But they're moving cuz of the liquid they are in. Bit creepy. You should have been there to see it. I took a video but have can't post it so yeah. imagine you have all these crawling all over yourself right now. haha.
